About
Anita LePage, designer and founder of Cowgirls Don’t Cry studied fashion extensively. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at UW-Stout in Wisconsin in Fashion Merchandising. She was awarded fellowships to attend the American Fashion College in Lucerne, Switzerland, and Tobe-Coburn School for Fashion Careers in New York City. Having worked at companies such as Seventeen Magazine, Liz Claiborne, Esprit de Corps, Federated Department Stores (Bloomingdales, Burdines, Bullock’s, etc.), Diesel Jeans and more recently as a fashion stylist on the West Coast, she brings a broad background to the collection. Anita started to take lessons and ride competitively in the Hunter/Jumper discipline in California and found it difficult to find cute tee’s to wear with her breeches. She decided to start her own collection of “Equine Hip” tee’s, hoodies, and accessories for both on and off the horse. Her horse and muse, Devlin, has served as a great inspiration for her “Got Carrot” tee’s and saddle pads, along with other phrases you’ll see on the tee’s. Find him on the homepage! The name Cowgirls Don’t Cry came to Anita through “divine inspiration”, she says. Not to mention that falling off of a few jumps made the phrase all to real… and for trivia note, Ronnie Dunn of Brooks and Dunn was inspired to write the song “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” after seeing one of Anita’s tee’s. Though Cowgirls Don’t Cry has a western slant to the name, the message crosses both English and Western disciplines – if you fall off, get back on… no matter what. A great metaphor for life!
